Money has been raised for the Severn Hospice and Hope House by recycling cardboard which is no longer collected via kerbside collections. The scheme was coordinated by Transition Town Shrewsbury, who requested bulk bags to be used to transport the unwanted cardboard. It is not yet known how much money was raised from about 5 tonnes of cardboard, but Shropshire Building Supplies are pleased to have helped out by contributing the use of their bulk bags, which are also recyclable!

SBS Teams Up With Shropshire Housing And Total Response

Supply partnership brings efficiency.

Housing bosses and a Ludlow business have come up with an inventive way to improve customer service with a new partnership.

Total Response Ltd, the maintenance and repair arm of Shropshire Housing Group, has teamed-up with builders merchant, Shropshire Building Supplies to run a new scheme that will ensure efficiency in sourcing parts.

The Ludlow branch of Shropshire Building Supplies has established a dedicated section in its Ludlow branch containing all of the regular stock requirements of Total Response, allowing engineers to call in and collect what they need without having to tour the branch or visit a variety of suppliers.

The new arrangement will further improve the efficiency of the TRL engineers in carrying out their repair and maintenance jobs for both tenants of South Shropshire Housing Association and their private clients.

Jayne Bissell, procurement officer for Total Response Ltd, explained: “Many of the jobs our team does require parts and getting hold of them can be a serious drain on time. This arrangement with Shropshire Building Supplies’ Ludlow branch ensures that the kinds of parts we need regularly will always be in stock and our engineers will be able to go in a pick them up without shopping around.

“That’s a huge time saving for them and will ensure they can complete more jobs, more quickly for our tenants and customers. It’s a great arrangement all round!”

Total Response Ltd carries out the maintenance on behalf of South Shropshire Housing Assocation and Meres and Mosses Housing Assocation and all three companies are part of Shropshire Housing Group
