Leebotwood and Ludlow branches carry a comprehensive range of graded, regularized, treated carcassing in the most popular sizes ( 19mm x 38mm battens to 47mm x 225mm section size and lengths from 2.4 to 6.0 metres) ready for delivery or collection. Leebotwood carries and can deliver to other branches and locations for convenience larger sizes (right up to 300mmx 300mm x 8mtr in unseasoned!) from stock in bothe treated and untreated size dependant. All sizes can be ordered and delivered direct to your site for crane offloading. The majority of this is kiln dried and graded in the country of origin to BS4978 and graded to C16 and or C24, although we do have in house qualified visual strength graders.
Most of our timber is available treated. The eased edge stock is generally treated with copper based high pressure preservation which is to BS 8417 UC2 for tile battens, carcassign and sole plates, where required. A very useful specifier guide for treatement can be found by clicking HERE.

Most of our carcassing timber has develeoped through customer demand to be Eased Edge, certainly in all the most popular sizes. Eased edge machined timber is smooth and easy to handle, and looks a neat, well presented product. Eased Edge gives a smoother finish after machining or planing and is of light weight, kiln dried and strength graded in most cases. It takes paints and preservatives and stains well.
Most of our carcassing timber is kiln dried. Kiln dried timber has higher stability than air dried timber and, therefore, there is less risk of distortion. In addition fungi and moulds find it difficult to survive on dry timber, making it resistant to decay. Improved penetration of preservatives and it is able to take stains, paints or varnishes and allows the use of glues. It is ideal for use in line with buiding regulations for internal load bearing construction when it is strength graded.
