Cladding

Timber cladding in all manner of profiles is now a very popular material for renovation and new build projects. It is replacing brick or rendered finishes with a sustainable option that comes in a choice of finishes.

The majority of architects, designers, specifiers and contractors have now overcome any previously held doubts about the sourcing, preservation and durability of the various species of softwood and hardwoods used today. Cedar, Siberian Larch, Chestnut and Scots Pine are now in frequent demand for this easy to use, appealing, durable, environmentally friendly, sustainable timber product. Shropshire Building Supplies can even supply (and have done on several occasions) bespoke cladding solutions such as some Sawn Air Dried Oak Beams cut to 225mm Feather Edge for infill on Dormers and Gable ends.

This system of cladding allows for great flexibility in design and can be used for any scale of building project. These lightweight cladding materials can compete on cost, performance and environmental credentials against all other alternative cladding materials, added to which there are so many patterns, species of wood and dimensions to choose from. The species, grade and quality of the materials you use for your cladding will affect the life, appearance and maintenance of the wood. Cladding can be applied to your build in any of three directions – horizontal, vertical and diagonal.

FSC-Certified and PEFC-certified products are available. Please either ring us, drop in a sample or even a quick sketch of the profile that you are after and we will try and source it for you in your choice of material.
